Buying a work of art

We have a number of established client relationships and are always happy to build new ones. Works of art are priced according to our view of the current market value, in line with the prices of comparable works of equivalent quality and by the same or a similar artist, either recently sold at auction or on the private market. Prices are based on the works being as described, and with a guarantee of authenticity, not offered by the principle auction houses, in accordance with retail laws, current art historical scholarship and the best professional practices.

If you are interested in a work that you have seen on this web site, email or telephone us to discuss it anytime, and to obtain additional information you might wish on the work. We prefer that purchasers, or an authorized subsitute, view a painting or sculpture in person and can happily arrange for the work to be viewed at the potential purchaser's home or in a suitable location in their home city if they are unable to visit us in London. We provide condition reports, usually supplied by the conservator who cleaned or conserved the work. Alternatively, potential purchasers may name a conservator of their choice to look at the work on their behalf.

We do not accept credit cards, but payment may be made by wire transfer, or by certified check; established clients may pay by personal check, and terms are available.

To sell a work of art through us

If you are interested in having the gallery sell a work of art on your behalf, we are pleased to offer our services on a commission basis for the sale of paintings by European artists from the early Renaissance through the 20th century.

Commissions are charged by us to the seller and, unlike the principal auction houses who charge both buyer and seller (commissions that vary between 15% and 45% depending on the value of the work sold), our commission charges range from 6% to 12% depending on the value of the work consigned. If you would like to become a client of our gallery, please contact us, or, if you prefer, visit our gallery when you are next in London.
